Learn Anywhere, Anytime
UF EDGE brings this exciting learning experience to a worldwide audience of place-bound engineers through a variety of distance learning technologies accessible at the workplace, home, and other sites.
UF EDGE program lectures can be downloaded to a DVD or a digital media player or via streaming through WEBCT/E-learning. These are the same courses taught by University of Florida College of Engineering faculty on campus. Courses are supplemented by additional course material and interaction. The degree can be completed in as little as 24 months.
Master's degree programs offered through UFEDGE are non-thesis. A non-thesis master's requires the completion of ten 3-semester credit hour courses as outlined in the schedule. The curriculum is designed to provide a comprehensive base in one of two areas: communications and networking, and electronic materials/semiconductors. The complete program is available online. It maintains the high academic standards of the University of Florida and there is no designation on the degree certificate to indicate the degree was completed via distance learning. For additional information on the program, please see http://www.ufedge.ufl.edu.
For Students Enrolling in the Program from Outside the US
Students who begin their graduate degree via the UFEDGE program have two options to complete their degree.
Option A: Students may complete the degree in its entirety from a location outside the U.S. There is no need to visit the UF campus. Assignments may be completed remotely and examinations would be supervised by a proctor in your home country approved by the UF EDGE program.
Option B: Students may complete four courses through the UFEDGE program in their first two semesters and complete the last six courses for their MS degree at the UF campus in Gainesville, FL if they have achieved a grade of B or better in each of the four courses. Upon completing the four courses, the University of Florida will request an I-20 and the student may initiate the process to obtain a student visa and continue with the final six courses of the degree at the University of Florida campus. Students who select this option would also be considered for funding in the form of a partial tuition waiver (the Achievement Award for New Engineering Graduate Students) as long as this award is still offered by the University.
